The Rossford Civil Service Commission has approved a
Civil Service Testing date of Saturday, February 18th at
10:00 AM for anyone interested in full or part-time police
positions. It has not yet been determined if the police
department will be hiring a full-time or part-time officer
from this test - it could be either or both. Interested
applicants must have a current OPOTA Peace Officer Basic
Training certificate. A 2 year degree in Criminal Justice or
Law Enforcement is preferred but not required. There is NO
fee to apply. Application packets can be obtained at the
Rossford City Offices in the Municipal Building located at
133 Osborn Street, Rossford, Ohio 43460. You must bring a
valid picture I.D. (driver's license), Birth Certificate and OPOTA certificate
when obtaining your application. Military Service credit (5
points added to your test score) will only be granted to
applicants who present discharge papers (DD-214) at the time
of recieving the application. Please look for the
advertisement in the Rossford Record Journal and the Bowling
Green Sentinel-Tribune newspapers in the upcoming weeks. The
test site will be the Rossford Community Recreation Center
(RCRC) located on Dixie Highway in Rossford.

DEPARTMENT AWARDS CEREMONY
SCOTT WILLIAMS NAMED OFFICER OF
THE YEAR
Police Chaplain Richard Vascik
was named Officer of The Year for 2010. The award was presented,
posthumously, to his wife, Sandra and son, Andrew, who is
also a firefighter, like
Officer Scot Williams, who has been with Rossford Police for 5 years, and
formerly from the North Baltimore, OH Police Department, has been named
Officer of The Year by his peers. At a Friday December 16th Rossford Police
Patrolmen's Association (RPPA) Christmas party, Chief Goss presented the award
to Officer Williams noting, among many other accomplishments, that Officer
Williams had netted about $110,000.00 in drug money from the streets in 2011
alone.
his father who served with the Rossford
Fire-Rescue Department for over 30 years. Chaplain Vascik served
the Rossford Police Department for over 15 years before his
passing this year.
Police Secretary Lisa Kolb
was presented the award of Officer of The Year for 2009 at the
same ceremony. Chief Goss said, although Lisa is not a sworn
officer, she is the backbone of the department. Goss said, "It's
not the year on the plaque that we should pay attention to but,
it's the name; as it's the person named who has made a
difference in the department and the community."
Sergeant Mark Marek received
an award for Outstanding Service for always 'going the extra
mile' for his fellow officers including scheduling, euipment and
training.

Officer Adam Myers - Adam started his first day of employment
with the Rossford Police Department on January 17th.

HOME BURGLARY -
The Rossford Police are investigating
a stolen vehicle incident that took placy the night of January
15th. A suspect entered a garage and took a car. The keys were
left inside of the vehicle, according to the victim. Police
remind residents to keep their residential and out-building
doors locked. Never leave your car keys in your vehicle. Call if
you have information related to this incident.
